The old reliable ...

Conventional Talk Therapy

My web-designer called it "boring old talk therapy" but it is typically not "boring" and it's "old" because it works!  Engaging with a therapist in a verbal pursuit of the answers to personal problems is still the best choice for some clients. It is a traditional, functional, and creative process that occurs between a therapist and a client.

Talk therapy in progress

My "talk therapy" starts with relationship-building.

Can we trust each other?
Do we both have faith in the journey we are taking together?
How do we define what your issue or problem might be?
Am I the right person to help you?

Then we engage in the process--the creative process--of searching for answers for you.  We both participate.  A famous quote from Bess Whitehead Scott is, "We cannot make it alone.  I'll walk a little ways with you."  My job as your therapist is to symbolically walk hand-in-hand with you, helping you find the answers deep within yourself, answers some part of you already knows. Along the way, I offer you suggestions from my training and experience, which you can accept if they seem helpful, or ring true for you.
